Closing Mass – 2024/2025 Academic Session

Feast Day of St. James the Apostle

📅 Thursday, 25th July 2025

Today, the Sacred Heart Catholic College family came together in reverence and gratitude to celebrate the Closing Mass of a fruitful academic session, coinciding with the Feast of St. James the Apostle — a faithful disciple and servant of Christ.

💡 Theme:

“Those who sow in tears will sing when they reap” – Psalm 126:5

A theme that beautifully reflects the dedication, sacrifices, and growth experienced throughout this school year. Despite challenges and trials, our students and staff remained steadfast, and now we rejoice in all that has been achieved.

📖 Liturgy Highlights:

📘 First Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:7–15

“We are only the earthenware jars that hold this treasure… struck down, but not destroyed.”

A call to remain humble and resilient, even as God works through our weaknesses.

📕 Gospel Reading: Matthew 20:20–28

“Anyone who wants to be great among you must be your servant.”

A message of servant leadership, reminding us that true greatness lies in selfless service — a value we uphold in SHCC.

🎶 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 126:1-2

“When the Lord brought back the exiles of Zion, we were like men dreaming… our mouths were filled with laughter and our tongues with songs of joy.”

✨ The Mass was a moment of spiritual reflection and joyful thanksgiving — marking not just the end of an academic cycle, but the celebration of transformation, faith, knowledge, and community.

💬 As we vacate for the summer, we carry the lessons learned and the memories made, trusting God to water the seeds sown in diligence and prayer. May every SHCC student return next session ready to reap bountifully — in wisdom, excellence, and virtue.
